Give Turku two days. Start at Turku Castle and Forum Marinum by the harbour, walk the Aura riverside into town and cross on the free Föri ferry. Eat lunch at the 1896 market hall, then spend an afternoon at Luostarinmäki or Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova. Keep a summer day for Ruissalo or the boat to Naantali.
Turku is Finland's oldest city and its capital until 1812. The Aura River runs from the cathedral to the medieval castle at its mouth, and past the harbour the Archipelago Sea opens up, island after island, all reachable in a day.
