FAQ

How is this list ranked?+
Only cities with an average January high of 20°C or more qualify. They are then ordered by total rainfall from December to February in their long-term climate normals, driest first.
Which pick is warmest in January?+
Krabi, with an average January high of 33°C, then Cartagena at 31°C. Both are tropical, so expect humid heat as well as sun.
Which picks have the coolest days?+
Aqaba and Agadir, both around 21°C in January. Agadir's nights fall to about 5°C, so they suit diving, hiking and sightseeing more than beach days, and a jacket for the evening.
Is December or February the better month?+
On most of the list, February. Cartagena gets about 45 mm of rain in December and almost none in February, and Krabi and Agadir follow the same pattern. Luxor and Hurghada are dry in all three months.
Why is Havana last when it is so warm?+
The ranking is by rain, and Havana gets about 173 mm over the three months, on six or so days a month. Its highs of 27°C are among the warmest here, so it suits travellers who mind cold more than a shower.
