Pass through giant torii gates into a forest shrine in the middle of the city, then step out the other side onto Takeshita Street's riot of crêpes and street fashion. One block captures Tokyo's calm and chaos back to back.
Multi-floor arcades, retro-game shops, anime megastores and maid cafés stacked into glowing towers. Even if you're not an otaku, the sensory overload after dark is pure Tokyo, start at the station's Electric Town exit and work upward.
