Santa Cruz Fort and the Basilica on Jebel Murdjadjo
Spain built the fort in the 1570s to guard the anchorage, and the chapel below it went up in the 1850s to mark a cholera epidemic the city said had stopped at its walls. The reason to come is the view: the whole bay from the port to Mers El Kébir, and the modern city spread out under Mount Murdjadjo. Free entry.
