Walk down through the Casbah
The Casbah is not a monument, it is a lived-in hillside of about 50 hectares falling from the Ottoman citadel to the port in a single slope. UNESCO inscribed it in 1992 for the citadel, the old mosques and the Ottoman palaces, held together by a street pattern so dense that most of it is stairs. Come for the shape of the place rather than a checklist.
