The two reflecting pools trace the footprints of the towers and are free to visit, open daily from 8am to 8pm. The museum below is a separate timed ticket and lands hard: give it two hours, and time an exit to Battery Park or the Oculus rather than straight back onto the subway.
The 41 Broadway houses cluster from 41st to 54th Street, mostly west of Times Square. For same-day discount seats, join the TKTS line under the red steps at Duffy Square; for a specific title, book through the official show site rather than a resale marketplace.
1.1 miles across the East River, opened in 1883 and still one of the great walks in any city. Start in Manhattan at Park Row and finish in Brooklyn Bridge Park under the arches for the postcard view back. Cyclists have their own roadway lane now, which leaves the wooden promenade entirely to pedestrians.
The Museum of Modern Art keeps the postcards you already know (Starry Night, Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, Campbell's Soup Cans) on rotation and layers a serious calendar of design, film and photography under them. Timed ticket, weekday mornings quietest.
1.45 miles of elevated rail bed replanted with grasses and perennials, running from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to 34th Street. Enter at the south end for the best sightlines, exit at Hudson Yards or peel off at Chelsea Market for lunch.
