Quick answer

Give Odense two days. Start at H.C. Andersen's House and the Childhood Home, walk the old quarter to St Canute's Cathedral and Møntergården, and finish at Brandts. On day two take the river boat from Munke Mose to the zoo and the Funen Village, then swim at the harbour bath. A third day buys Egeskov.

Odense is Denmark's third city and Hans Christian Andersen's birthplace, on the island of Funen halfway between Copenhagen and Jutland. The old quarter is a few cobbled streets, the river runs green to the woods, and most of it is walkable.
