They are already on our global hidden gems list, along with Matera and Tbilisi. This list leaves them there and goes one step further off the circuit. ### When is the best time to visit? May, June and September suit almost all ten: warm, dry and before or after the summer peak. Ohrid is at its best for swimming in July, and Évora and Lecce get very hot in August. ### Which picks pair well on one trip? Gjirokastër, Ohrid and Prizren make a southern Balkans loop by bus. Olomouc pairs with Prague or Vienna by train, Toruń with Gdańsk, and Évora is a day or a night out of Lisbon. ### Do I need a car? Not in the towns themselves, which are all walkable.
